"Prison Break" fans lost their cool when news of a revival series was confirmed on Fox. The revival is due out in April for nine episodes, but new reports revealed that it was supposed to be longer.

"Prison Break" creator Paul Scheuring revealed that he had "written a long-winded road map for 10 episodes," The Wrap reported. However, the crew realized that they "didn't have enough time for 10 episodes, so we conflated two of those episodes into one."

Actor availability was another behind the nine-episode run's tight schedule. Not to mention the fact that several of the "Prison Break" revival's returning stars such as Wentworth Miller and Sarah Wayne Callies have commitments to other TV shows and projects now.

Scheuring believes that a shorter, nine-episode run best fits the "Prison Break" revival, and he assured that it will present "a really tight, close-ended story." Allowing the show to run for the more traditional 22-episode season like majority of the TV shows out there "wouldn't be worth doing."

Scheuring said that "there's really no time" for 22 episodes, adding that TV has "changed so much since ['Prison Break'] initially premiered." Scheuring thinks that "in the new era of television, people are much more open to limited runs and event series."

Romance will be highlighted on the "Prison Break" revival, specifically between Miller's Michael and his wife, Callies' Sara. The latter is now married to Jacob (Mark Feuerstein) and that will be a huge issue when Michael finally returns after years of her presuming that he's dead.

Feuerstein said that "tension" will ensue for the trio, though it isn't exactly a love triangle, E! News reported. The actor revealed that Jacob will even help his wife break out her ex-husband from prison and afterward, a heavy confrontation is awaiting Michael and Sara.

According to Callies, Sara will have plenty of questions that "may make it unlikely to be a reunion where two people run at each other from opposite sides of a field full of butterflies and sort of fall into each other's arms." Miller, meanwhile, said that the former lovers will have a second getting-to-know-you stage. Much has changed over the years and Michael and Sara will have to navigate the consequences of lost time to find their way back to each other.

The "Prison Break" revival premieres on Tuesday, April 4 at 9 PM on Fox. Watch the trailer below.
