"Super Mario Run" on Android still has no definite release date in 2017, but Google Play Store has now a placeholder for the game, plus it is now accepting pre-registration to notify would-be-players on when the game goes live. A warning is also given not to fall prey to those offering the new hit game, saying it is available now.

In a Tweet, Nintendo of America confirmed that by pre-registering, users will be notified when the official "Super Mario Run" is available on Google Play, Engadget reported. The game was originally released on Dec. 15 on iOS platform, garnering a huge commercial success.

According to Gamespot, "Super Mario Run" has so far been downloaded over 50 million times on the iOS, in which, Nintendo gave 10 Toad Rally tickets for free to celebrate the game's success. The game is free to play up to the first three levels, but a one-time fee of $10.00 is required to unlock the full game.

"Super Mario Run" now has four game modes: World Tour, Kingdom Builder, Toad Rally and the new Friendly Run. The new game mode allows players to race against their friends, without the need for tickets in Toad Rally.

However, "Super Mario Run" Friendly Run has its limits. Players need to complete World 1 to be able to compete in three Friendly Run races a day, otherwise, players are limited to one race a day, and the number of times users can play is determined by their progress in World Tour.

"Super Mario Run" available on Android now?

Users are reminded that the official version of "Super Mario Run" for Android is yet to be released, and that releases being offered now are not quite all, as there are reports that cyber criminals are waiting to pounce on unsuspecting fans.

Trend Micro found that there is a growing number of malicious Android apps posing as the yet-to-be released "Super Mario Run." The security company found 9,000 apps that are falsely using the name Mario in third-party app stores, and the number has risen up to 90,000 in 2016.
