Most fans and avid gamers alike have been craving for more "Portal" games since the second installment has left them deeply enthralled. As such, the rumor mills surrounding the game have been churning out numerous speculations regarding a"Portal 3" game being released in 2018 and playable in VR, as well. However, fans might be disappointed to hear that those have been debunked already. In other news, sources have shown that plans for a movie-adaptation of the game are already in the works.

It was previously reported that the movie-adaptation for the games "Portal" are still in the works, IGN noted. In an interview with acclaimed director J.J. Abrams (known for directing box office hits like "Star Trek" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"), he updated fans with the project his having with Valve.

Abrams stated that the movie based on the games "Portal" and "Half-Life" are in development. He also mentioned that they already have writers who are working on both stories. As of that moment, he further said apart from those things, there aren't much other things to be noted as an exciting update.

As for the rumors surrounging a "Portal 3" game, it was previously suggested that the game will be released in 2018 and would even be playable in VR, University Herald reported. It was speculated therein that Valve will finally be releasing a "Portal 3" game along with unveiling of the HTC Vive VR trailer, and that the trailer shown by HTC for its second-generation VR developer kit hinted towards a possible "Portal 3."

However, this was easily debunked by Valve director of marketing, Doug Lombardi, who responded to the rumors by saying that the demo shown does not indicate that the company is developing a new "Portal 3" game, PC Gamer reported.

As such, fans will just have to wait a bit more until more concrete news surface around regarding the development and release of a "Portal 3" game.
