It is that time of the year again. As 2016 is drawing to a close, people are meeting the incoming year with their 2017 New Year's Resolutions.

According to a recent study, career-related changes are topping the list of professionals when it comes to 2017. A Spherion Staffing study revealed that more than 60 percent of workers in the United States are looking at taking huge steps when it comes to their work life.

It may be finding a new career path, a new job or launching their own business ventures. Some are planning to do the same but are taking smaller steps such as learning a new skill set, as reported by Business News Daily.

According to Sandy Mazur, the Spherion Division President, 2017 New Year's Resolutions are all about making professional changes. The division head says that the New Year is the best time for professionals to revisit 2016 and see if they are really happy with the direction their careers are going. Questions would then arise. It may often start with whether or not they want to make changes, as reported by PR News Wire.

Mazur also stresses that it is as equally important for employers to notice their employee's 2017 New Year's Resolutions. It is time for employers to think about how to better meet their direct reports' expectations and ensure job or career happiness and maximize employee retention.

Think Money

It is the biggest driving factor for career changes in 2017. A salary increase is considerably an advantage for employee retention and also a main motivation.

Change of location

In another study, 62 percent of millennials are interested in moving to a new location for professional reasons. San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland and New York are primary destinations for most employees.
