Blizzard's Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) "Heroes of the Storm" gets a new game director in the wake of former director Dustin Browder's announcement on Blizzard's forums of his departure from the "Heroes of the Storm" development team to work on a new undisclosed project with the company.

Taking the helm from Browder as new game director for "Heroes of the Storm" is 20-year veteran Alan Dabiri, who has had a hand in nearly every aspect of "Heroes of the Storm" since its inception. He is both the technical director and a part of the team's collaborative development process, Browder announced on his Blizzard forum post

Prior to Dabiri's assumption as game director for "Heroes of the Storm," he is responsible for the recently launched Heroes Brawl Mode which is now live in the game. Another area of focus for "Heroes of the Storm" in 2017, according to Dabiri is esports. He said he is looking for ways to improve the esport experience within the game for its fans.

Reportedly, they are adding a tournament draft mode with draft observer support. Accordingly, Dabiri also said the new mode would include an early version of a 'hero swap' phase that will aid esports in custom games.

Alongside the major improvements done to "Heroes of the Storm" during the last year, Dabiri announced there would be a massive number of further developments in store within the first half of 2017. Their team is looking into a complete rework of the progression/reward systems. There is also a ton more in store but still being kept under wraps for now.

Expect new heroes and battlegrounds planned in the hope that their continued development will smash player expectations for "Heroes of the Storm" as well as followers of the game genre ever had, Polygon reported.
