Former Konami and "Metal Gear Solid" creator Hideo Kojima, like the rest of gamers, is looking forward to the games coming out next year. The Japanese video game creator has told media that Rockstar's open-world western action adventure "Red Dead Redemption 2" top his list for games for 2017.

In a recent interview with GI.biz, the 53-years-old Kojima said that his most anticipated video game in 2017 is the Rockstar's upcoming "Red Dead Redemption 2." However, Kojima didn't make any further comment on why "Red Dead Redemption 2" top his list. Kojima has also praised Rockstar Games for their stunning work on "Grand Theft Auto 5," which is said to make Kojima depressed when comparing it to his own work. Kojima has been a fan of Rockstar's work. In fact, Kojima made some claims recently, saying that Rockstar's team is the best.

It seems that Kojima's interest has been in open world games, as he decided to make "Metal Gear Solid 5" open world. Kojima's upcoming "Death Stranding" will also be open world, and so perhaps Kojima is anticipating Rockstar's "Red Dead Redemption 2" so that he can draw some inspiration for his upcoming game "Death Stranding."

As reported earlier by GameSpot, Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled for release on Sony PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next year. Unfortunately, Rockstar Games hasn't shared any concrete gameplay details yet, not even hints.

Also in the GI.biz interview, the former Konami video game designer has also praised and picked upcoming "Blade Runner 2049" movie as his most anticipated movie for 2017. Kojima is also rumored to be keen on signing one of the stars of Blade Runner 2049 to make an appearance in his upcoming game "Death Stranding." The much-awaited game is filled with Hollywood stars, which include Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen and Guillermo del Toro. Perhaps he can sign Blade Runner 2049's Ryan Gosling or Harrison Ford to join the list, adding another boost to his upcoming game.

However, adding more celebrities to his list could make "Death Stranding" budget rather bloated, so expect Kojima to stick with his current cast. It also an unpopular idea, for now, considering Kojima's current situation.

With development expected to ramp up on "Death Stranding" significantly next year, fans could learn more about the game at some point next year. As for the release date, there still no official announcement yet, but a 2018 release seems more plausible.

Hideo Kojima's latest project is "Death Stranding is still in development, according to iDigital Times.
