Carly Simon is a well known American singer, songwriter and musician. She was raised in the Bronx and was sexually abused at seven years old. She began stuttering a year later. To cure her stuttering, she turned to music.

By singing and writing songs, Carly Simon felt natural. As a teenager she attended Riverdale Country School and then briefly attended Sarah Lawrence College. She dropped out of Sarah Lawrence to pursue music. In 1998, she received an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Music from Berklee College, as shown on Carly Simon's official website.

During an interview, Carly Simon talked about her past life, as reported by Forbes. When asked about her family and Christmas songs, she calls her daughter the most incredible daughter ever. She loves her musical family.

But there was one time Carly Simon claimed she did not know her daughter very well. Her recent book apparently shocked and amazed her daughter. Simon did not think her daughter, Sally, would be shocked. The book was "Boys in the Trees: A Memoir." It focused on her early life and childhood. It seems her daughter was going through something and her book resonated with her experiences. According to Simon, her daughter gave her 1998 personal diary for her to read.

Carly was shocked to find out that there were a lot of things going on in her daughter's life during and after college that she did not know about. As a parent, she says it was important for them to always have an open dialogue with her kids.

For Carly Simon, the artist finds it gratifying to find out that people everywhere and even her daughter can be affected by her works in music and books. She confesses that she loves to connect with people.
