It has been reported last October that Sony is looking towards 2017 by registering two Sony Xperia phones with a Russian regulatory body.

The two units with internal numbers Sony Xperia G3121 and G3112 doesn't give much on information other than lead us to speculate that they may be rid-range or low-end phones. It would be very hard to gauge at this point since Sony has been known to be inconsistent with their internal numbers.

As of today, news of the new Sony Xperia G3121 and G3112 phones have surfaced with the leak coming from China. According to GSMArena, a Snapdragon 820 SoC will power the new Sony Xperia phones; the leak also said that the devices would be showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 and The Mobile World Congress (MWC).

The report further stated that the two models will feature 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch touch screen displays. Based solely on this, however, we have no data to support which of the two internal numbers of Sony Xperia G3121 and G3112 would feature the mentioned screen sizes, according to phoneArena

It would be interesting to point out that the Snapdragon 820 will be two years old in 2017. Some pundits are asking this early why Sony did not consider using the Snapdragon 821. It is understandable for Sony, however, not to use Snapdragon 835 on the Sony Xperia G3121 and 3112 since the chip will not be ready until summer next year because Samsung fell behind in the production of the 10nm chip.

Speculations are beginning to escalate firstly on how the Sony Xperia G3121 and 3112 will look like and its features. We expect new information to seep in as more regulators get involved, some have been generous in sharing specifications, and some even share photos of phones and devices they certify.
