The MacBook Pro available recently with refreshed hardware and the much touted Touch Bar. How will it fare with HP's Spectre x360?

MacBook Pro

One of the main hooks of the MacBook Pro is the much talked about Touch Bar that has its own CPU. Apple declared the MacBook Pro as the most advanced laptop ever made.

However, DigitalTrends reported, not really. It isn't only Digital Trends that says this since there have been changes to the new MacBook Pro that left avid users wanting. Changes in the ports for one.

HP Spectre x360

The HP Spectre x360 has a better CPU than the MacBook Pro. Another plus factor of it is that it has both USB-C and USB-A ports. The system is a 2-in 1 which makes it more flexible, and it is aesthetically pleasing too, according to Mobile & Apps.

HP Spectre x360 Vs MacBook Pro

The two are powerful machines but not too powerful. Nevertheless, both are on equal footing when outfitted with additional RAM or storage space. MacBook Pro features a 6th-generation Skylake dual-core Intel Core i5 with 8GB of RAM, however, the HP Spectre x360 uses a 7th-generation Kaby Lake model.

Clock speeds for both are similar with the HP Spectre x360 leading but not by much. It has an advantage over the MacBook Pro since its CPU can be upgraded to an Intel Core i7. MacBook Pro scores a double by having an advantage in storage size plus its onboard Intel Iris graphics chip outperforms that of the Intel HD chip in the HP Spectre x360.

Both HP Spectre x360 and MacBook Pro are considered evenly match on the display scale. MacBook edging HP in High Resolution, however, HP Spectre x360 is touchscreen, Mac is not.

Weight wise, HP Spectre x360 is lighter and thinner. Battery life is better than the Mac. Connectivity wise, it's a draw. Though MacBook Pro has one more port than Spectre, it does have one traditional port. We shall not discuss the price since we already know who wins in affordability.

Verdict

Though the MacBook Pro is slightly ahead performance wise, display and design, it loses in portability and versatility. Its price point is also a big consideration. The HP Spectre x360, on the other hand, can perform just as well for a whole lot less.
