As Nintendo Switch gets closer to its release date, the news about the hardware is also getting bigger. A new report claims that the Virtual Console in the upcoming game console Nintendo Switch will include support for GameCube games.

The report, which came from Eurogamer sources, claims that the GameCube support is already working on the game console and that three GameCube games are already being scheduled for the Nintendo Switch launch.

The three GameCube games are the Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion and Super Smash Bros. Melee. Animal Crossing is reportedly in the testing stage and might join the Nintendo's list.

If the GameCube stories are to be believed, this would be great news for thousands of Nintendo fans. The only question here is if the Switch's Virtual Console will support DS games since it doesn't have two screens.

In addition to the GameCube games, Nintendo is said to be working on the Wii U GameCube controller adapter, which will allow the device to work with the Nintendo Switch. However, a final decision has not yet been made here, as Nintendo still working on other parts of the hardware.

To date, the GameCube is the only Nintendo gaming platform that has not seen its games brought to Virtual Console. The Nintendo Wii, Wii U, and even Nintendo 3DS are all have supported games from the Nintendo 64, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Color, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo Wi, and NES.

A report from Tom Phillip notes that those two games along with Super Mario Sunshine are already working on the Nintendo hardware, As Kotaku reported earlier. Phillips also notes Animal Crossing as another game that being readied for the Switch's Virtual Console.

The Switch Virtual Console is reportedly being developed by Nintendo's European Research Department, who also completed the work on the Mini NES.

The Nintendo Switch is scheduled to launch in March 2017. Additional product information will be revealed at an upcoming Nintendo event on early January, next year.

In other news, The Nintendo Switch is said to feature a 6.2" 720p multi-touch screen. The device is also rumored to have its own version of Pokemon Sun and Moon, whose code-name is Pokemon Stars, according to an earlier report by Eurogamer.net.
