After five years a sequel to "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" will finally launch in late 2017. "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" is confirmed not console exclusive.

The debut trailer for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" shown during the Capcom Cup 2016 featured Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Ryu and Mega Man X engaged in a fast and explosive battle. The fast paced action, according to Capcom, is delivered by its Unreal Engine 4 technology said to push its visuals and realism into a new era.

Not much have been revealed about the game so far except that the four playable characters mentioned above are sure to be in "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" with more characters to be revealed in the future. Be aware though that 3v3 seemed to be dropped, and instead 2V2 team battles will ensue. Capcom says the free-form 2v2 team battles "allow for new game dynamics never-before-seen in the franchise."

According to Trusted Reviews, the reason for the 2v2 team battles in "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" is unclear as past franchises allotted three combatants to be in a team. It is surmised that it has to do with the adjustments to the roster or gameplay mechanics.

The latest rumor we have of the game from an unnamed game informant is that "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will not have assist attacks. Also according to the same anonymous informant, the decision to place the game on 2v2 is for the sake of accessibility and that Capcom considered the decision for a long time before settling on the final design.

As for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" game modes, players can choose from Arcade, Training, Mission, and a new cinematic Story Mode. Additionally, it is reported that Online modes will make a return as well, including ranked and casual matches, global leaderboards, and online lobbies with spectator mode.

Another new feature of "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" is that players will be able to choose between six Infinity Stones culled from the Marvel Universe. Marvel fans would know that each Infinity Stone works differently, and depending on which character you play, may influence their inherent abilities and ultimately the outcome of the battles.

"Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will be coming worldwide to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017.
