Fans and avid gamers of the fighting game genre are in for a real treat as NetherRealm Studios is planning to release the highly-anticipated "Injustice 2" in 2017. However, there have been some speculations as to whether this could be the reason why the developers have not released the Kombat Pack 3 for its "Mortal Kombat X" game. In addition, Ed Boon has hinted to fans that there might be some new faces joining the sequel's roster.

It was recently implied that the Kombat Pack 3 for "Mortal Kombat X" might be delayed (or worse, postponed) due to NetherRealm Studios focusing on their upcoming 2017 video games, News Everyday reported.

The source suggested that fans might have to wait until "Injustice 2," which is set for a 2017 release date, gets launched before they can expect NetherRealm to roll out the Kombat Pack 3 for "Mortal Kombat X."

It was tweet by Ed Boon via his Twitter account was also cited by PlayStation Lifestyle where the game developer humorously said that people thought "Injustice 2" killed off the Kombat Pack 3 for "Mortal Kombat X."

That being said, the source also pointed out Ed Boon saying that he would be surprised to see if "Injustice 2" doesn't get any guest characters. The creative director went on to state that the lack of fatalities in the game made it easy for guest characters to be included as its downloadable content.

He went on to cite Scorpion as an example by saying that he was one of the most downloaded characters in "Injustice." Moreover, he also went on to emphasize that there was coolness and a novelty factor in seeing things mixed together.

Hence, fans will just have to wait and see if they either receive a Kombat Pack 3 for the "Mortal Kombat X" sometime soon or if the wait would be worth it as "Injustice 2" gets released ahead of it.
