The House Science Committee is facing backlash for its post on Twitter about a misleading and unscientific article that denied climate-change. This comes after Donald Trump has been vocal about his skepticism on the issue.

NBC News reported that the official Twitter account of the House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space and Technology retweeted a Breitbart News article on Thursday. This gained outrage because the article claimed that the science behind climate-change is "in its final death rattle."

This comes as a disappointment since it appeared that the Breitbart News article, which was written by climate-change denier James Delingpole, was not the most credible source. He does not have a degree in science nor is he a scientist.

The committee has 38 members. All of whom are in-charge of all energy, environmental, marine, civil aviation and astronautics research and development. Rep. Lamar Smith, a Republican from Texas, is chairman of the committee.

Scientists took to Twitter to debunk Delingpole's assumptions. They also shared their dismay on the House committee's seeming support of the publication.

According to Live Science, experts have deemed the tweet as "extremely misleading" and "disgraceful." It was noted that the article contained cherry-picked data, which made it appear like global temperatures are decreasing.

Michael Mann, a professor of atmospheric science at Pennsylvania State University, wrote to Live Science saying that the article ignores the "deleterious impact that our profligate burning of fossil fuels is having on the planet." He expressed his dismay over how the House Science Committee is promoting fake news that can distract and even fool the public.

"[The tweet] is extremely misleading and it's disgraceful actually, because they get it out to a whole lot of people who don't understand that it's wrong," Kevin Trenberth, a distinguished senior scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado, said.

This comes after Donald Trump continues to appoint climate-change deniers to office. He has previously tweeted that "the concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive."
