AMD's RX 490 4K gaming graphics card release is reportedly going to be delayed. Rumors suggest two plausible release dates.

The AMD Radeon RX 490 is listed as part of a promotion both on the AMD and Sapphire websites that announces a scheduled 2016 date. Based on other rumors, the GPU will feature AMD's new Vega 10 architecture that is scheduled to be unveiled sometime in mid-2017.

It would be interesting to note that AMD's current RX Series were all built using the current Polaris architecture, it is, therefore, more plausible for AMD to use the new Vega 10 architecture on the AMD Radeon RX 490, which would significantly delay the release of AMD Radeon RX 490 to mid-2017 as stated earlier.

The AMD RX 490 is rumored to support 4K technology and virtual reality. It has a 1,200 MHz GPU base clock with a 350 (1400) MHz memory clock, according to Videocardz. The new graphics card will also have a power of 9,830 GigaFlops and boasts of a memory interface larger than 256bit, according to Wccftech.

As for its price, if it were to directly compete with the Nvidia's GTX 1070 or GTX 1080, AMD Radeon RX 490 has to have a price considerably lower or nearer the price range of Nvidia GTX 1080, which currently retails at $700, for it to be attractive.

It can be noted that the older AMD Radeon RX 480 is rated one of the best graphic cards under the $300 price range. For this reason, gamers got a bit ecstatic when rumors of AMD Radeon RX 490's possible price tag started circulating as AMD has always been known to produce superior performing graphic cards for lesser price tag. 

Meanwhile, additional details on the AMD Radeon RX 490 hints that the package will come with 16GB of memory and 512GB memory bandwidth. If proven true, the AMD Radeon RX 490 will be more powerful than both the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 and Titan X.
