Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are announced to be compatible with the T-Mobile's DL-256QAM and 4x4 MIMO technologies. In September the company revealed a number of improvements that will come to the network infrastructure to speed up the data transfers significantly.

The T-Mobile Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge update appears to have been enabled the 4x4 MIMO following the roll out in September. However, the company did not mention this information during the official changelog. In line with this, a recent test on the firmware G935TUVU4APIA on the S7 Edge has affirmed that the said technology was running on it. According to reports, the 4x4 MIMO is now available in 319 cities, and is likely to double the data paths between the phones and the cell network for faster speeds in congested areas.

As for the 256QAM, the quadrature amplitude modulation technology, reports indicate that this provides faster transfer of bits during uploads and downloads, and already exists in most of T-Mobile's network. However, the technology was said to be waiting for phones to support it. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were also expected to receive support initially, which the T-Mobile update is believed to be a response to that, although the changelog did not mention anything about it, Android Police reported.

Meanwhile, Samsung is reported to be gearing up to bring Android 7.2 to Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge as part of the company's Galaxy Beta Program, which starts Nov. 9 and will run through the middle of December. Although there is still no announcement yet about the official launch of Android Nougat on both handsets, there are speculations that an entire release may happen in December.
