For a fresher, preparing for your big move to a university may be a little tricky. Now that you are about to embark to new and exciting journey in your life, it can be pretty daunting at first to think that this is going to be your first time to be away from home for an extended period of time. While there's a lot to consider when moving out, but here's a guide to help you with the transition.

Determine the most important things you should be bringing and make a checklist, why? Because you will never know how much you own until you move so you have to make a list of the things you NEED to bring and leave the ones that are not so important behind. This will help you avoid unnecessary clutter in your new space.

Be as organized as possible by ensuring that you got all your stuff in a box. For anything that might break, or your books and beddings, good quality boxes will come in handy. Getting your things transported to your university can also be a bit of a hassle especially when it comes to time and cost so if you know someone from your school who is also going to the same university, you could probably share a car.

As soon as you get to your accommodation, the first thing you'd probably want to do is unpack and prepare your new space so that it can begin to feel livable. But do not forget that getting to know your flatmates or your roommates is important because you guys are going to be living together. It's normal to feel a little bit shy at first but what is important is that you get along with them because after all, you will be living with them the entire academic year.
