Big Bang Theory is about to make history. Aside from being one of the longest television series, running for ten seasons already, one of its beloved characters could be getting its own spin off.

Big Bang Theory centers around the lives of five main characters, Leonard Hofstadter, Sheldon Cooper, Penny, Howard Wolowitz and Raj Koothrappali. All of them are STEM professionals (aside from Penny). But soon, Sheldon is going to have his own series.

Sheldon Cooper is a senior theoretical physicist at Caltech. He is a child prodigy on the show with an IQ of a genius. He graduated from college as a summa cum laude as a teenager and earned his doctorate, plus other degrees. Although his educational profile is notable, But his lack of social skills makes him a humorous character. His lack of understanding of humor, irony and sarcasm makes him a great character on the show. Which is why, according to E Online, CBS is going to work on a spin off series on the scientist.

But the spin off is not going to focus on Sheldon after college. It is reportedly going to focus on a younger version of the genius. As a child, like most children, Sheldon also experiments with science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It could may well become a great inspiration to get kids involved with STEM. The Big Bang Theory is a show that rakes in audiences that are not only in it for the comedy but also for science itself. The fan base often contributes to the theories the characters are talking about and the characters themselves try to cover theoretical ideas.

It may well serve as the same platform for young audiences. Looking at Sheldon Cooper's background is also a way of getting younger viewers to parallel themselves when it comes to science and growing up.

Show runners Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Steve Molaro are reportedly involved in this Sheldon Cooper spin off series.

In the meantime, check out this gag of Parsons and Conan.
