The York Federation of Students Board of Directors at the York University in Toronto has cancelled popular rapper, A$AP Rocky's upcoming show after learning about his criminal battery charges. The hip-hop star was invited to be part of the school's music festival, 'YorkFest Concert,' next week.

According to vibe, the school called the cancellation a 'difficult decision' as it had been 'painstakingly planned for months.'

"The A$AP Rocky performance at the YorkFest Concert, scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 18, has been cancelled after the York Federation of Students Board of Directors learned of allegations of an assault against a woman that are currently before a U.S. court," the university statement read.

"The Board of Directors has decided that this event cannot proceed until this matter is resolved," the statement continues. "This decision should not be construed as suggesting that the YFS has any knowledge of the incident, or has a view on the innocence or guilt of the artist."

Rocky has been accused of slapping a female fan during Jay-Z's Made in America Festival over Labor Day weekend.

According to aceshowbiz, Lisa Wade, the alleged victim, filed a private criminal complaint with the District Attorney's Office earlier this month, alleging that the rapper slapped her as he tried to make his way through the crowd during his performance in Philadelphia on Aug. 31.

As a result, he was subsequently charged with misdemeanor simple assault.

The 24-year-old star, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, performed at Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre in August as part of hometown rapper Drake's OVO Fest, according to globalnews.ca.

The board has already found an extraordinary replacement for Rocky: Major Lazer.
