Looks like avid gamers who have been restlessly waiting for the sequel to Rockstar Games' Western action-adventure video game, "Red Dead Redemption," can finally rejoice.

Rockstar Games stirred conversations among the huge "RDR" fanbase over the weekend by posting a picture of their logo on a red background via Twitter. The picture confirmed what the video gaming realm have long suspected, and the game studio made it official on Tuesday, Oct. 18 by sharing a poster of the highly anticipated "Red Dead Redemption 2" release date on Twitter.

Rumor mills have been swirling all sorts of speculation around the title of the game, hinting that if the sequel was indeed happening, it would be dubbed as "Red Dead Retribution," which many noted was a great title. Nevertheless, "Red Dead Redemption 2" is not a bad title either.

The poster teases an Autumn 2017 release date and promises that a trailer for the game would be rolled out on Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. Topeka time on the Rockstar Games official website, Rockstar YouTube as well as on Twitch pages. It also said that gamers could pre-order their copy of the much awaited game now.

If rumors doing rounds are anything to go by, "Red Dead Redemption 2" will precede the events of the original "Red Dead Redemption." Apparently, the game is slated to take place in a less populated version of the American West featured in the first "Red Dead Redemption," an anonymous source told TechRadar. The source revealed the upcoming game's status as a prequel right after the game's alleged map was shared on a popular gaming forum.

Despite the lack of information, speculation around the story featuring seven protagonists have been doing rounds for quite a long time, and the official poster further cemented the speculation. Meanwhile, Rockstar has remained tight lipped regarding what type of trailer will be released.

Stay tuned in here for "Red Dead Redemption 2," update and to watch "Red Dead Redemption 2's" new trailer.
