MacBook Air 2016 is expected to be unveiled alongside the MacBook Pro 2016. However, recent reports suggest that Apple could be losing passion in designing a new MacBook Air, and will just replace it with its upcoming tablet device instead.

Apple rumor: MacBook Air 2016 chopped down

A report suggests that Apple could discontinue the MacBook Air lineup, but the Cupertino-based tech giant may still bring updates in Q4 2016, along with the unveiling of MacBook Pro 2016, Macworld has learned. This is due to the upcoming iPad Pro 2 tablet that is said to be 'a replacement' launched next year.

Another report suggests that considering the 12-inch of Retina MacBook and the introduction of a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2, it would make sense that an 11-inch MacBook Air could be discontinued, TechRadar reported.

Apple rumor: Tim Cook leaked email suggests a refresh in MacBook lineup

Judging from a leaked email from Tim Cook that stated, "I love the Mac and we are very committed to it," it seems to ensure that Apple will still bring refreshed Mac products to the table, despite not mentioning which product is that.

If rumors are to be believed, it would be a big disappointment since Apple superfans have long been waiting for the MacBook Air because it is the company's budget-friendly device among all MacBook lineup.

When investigating all the rants, many would have assumed that MacBook Pro refresh may include the MacBook Air 2016; however, many rumors circulating online only points at the redesigned MacBook Pro. ZDNet, for instance, claimed that MacBook Air may make an appearance, but no detailed leak or information that goes on with the statement, except that the 11-inch MacBook Air could be retiring.

Most of the speculations on MacBook Pro's (and MacBook Air) technical specs include a trackpad compatible with the new Apple Pencil, an OLED strip that replaces the physical function keys and a Touch ID scanner for login system.
