You know him as the star of A&E's 'Bates Motel', and maybe during his stunt with Johnny Depp in the 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.' But Freddie Highmore is actually a recent Cambridge graduate.

You probably didn't know it but during the course of the filming of 'Bates Motel' he was actually studying Spanish and Arabic at Cambridge's Emmanuel College.

Born in 1992, this young actor started his education at a primary school in Hampstead Garden Suburb in Hampstead, North London. When he was seven years old, he made his first movie debut in 'Women Talking Dirty.' Little Freddie Highmore played the son of an estranged woman. That was in 1999. He then took his high school education at an Highgate School. Highgate school is an independent school. Then he involved himself in several other television series and movies. But he got his big break in 'Finding Neverland.'

Later on, he decided to take his higher education, according to Top Universities, at Emmanuel College at the University of Cambridge. From there, he took a double whammy! He earned a "Double First" in Spanish and Arabic. And he did this while filming 'Bates Motel.' He starred as Norman Bates and he was nominated twice for the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series.

His role as Norman Bates in the 'Bates Motel' is based on the prequel to Alfred Hitchcock's movie 'Psycho.' The difference is, it is set in the present day. He also starred in other movies such as 'Neverland' and also BBC's 'Close to the Enemy', to name a few.

What is interesting to note is that while he is busy filming the whole series of 'Bates Motel', he was able to make time for his higher education at Cambridge's Emmanuel College. And he is one of the few who earned a Double First honor.
