You have seen her in 'The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants' and maybe the television series 'Ugly Betty.' But before America Ferrera became big on screen, she took it upon herself to study theater and international relations.

Born in 1984, America Ferrera first took her education at the Calabesh Street Elementary school in Los Angeles. She then went to George Ellery Hale Middle School. For her high school education, she enrolled in the El Camino Real High. In her high school years, she took acting lessons while waiting tables and baby sitting. She worked hard for it. She was always into acting and performing since she was a child. At seven years old, she already busied herself with acting in a school production - 'Hamlet.' Although that was just a small role, it eventually got bigger. She acted in school plays and community theaters in LA.

It was clear that she is interested in acting but her mother encouraged her to try other things for fear she will not be treated fairly. Eventually, college time came and she went to the University of Southern California on a presidential scholarship, cites Seventeen. She also busied herself with a theater program at Northwestern University in 2002. Afterwards, she graduated in 2003 with majors in theater and international relations.

It was the fast lane for America Ferrera after that. She appeared in several platform, received and got nominated for multiple awards. In 2007, TIME considered America as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.

Today's generation may know her from her comedy series acting of 'Ugly Betty' or her role as Carmen in 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.' Until now, she continues to hone her craft as a performer and actress. Joining several stages, shows and films.
