It looks like Niantic is on a roll! After teasing an array of awe-inspiring features and changes for "Pokemon Go," the game developer has announced a new feature that gives players a "catch bonus" for acquiring certain medals.

Niantic explained that players will reap bonus when they earn medals based on capturing specific types of Pokemon including Kindler, Psychic, and Gardener. In a blog post, developer Niantic revealed that the bonuses will boost your chances of catching rare Pokemon.

For instance, as you climb to a higher tier for Kindler Medal, your bonus to capture Fire-type Pokemon such as Ponyta, Vulpix and Charmander increase as well. Players can proceed to a new tier by capturing several Pokemon of the same type, Niantic explained.

It's important to bear in mind that if a Pokemon has different types, your bonus will be the average of your bonuses for each type. For instance, Pidgey is Normal as well as Flying type. In this case, your bonus would be the average of your Normal-type and Flying type bonuses.

Although Niantic did not divulge a specific release date for the said feature, the studio gave us a sneak peek of what the feature looks like by sharing three images.

In September, the CEO of The Pokemon Company discussed a multiplayer battle mode for the hit augmented reality mobile game. The capture bonus could be one of the "exciting features" teased by Niantic, though this is not officially confirmed, GameSpot reported.

"Pokemon Go" launched earlier this year and took the mobile gaming realm by storm. Niantic's mobile sensation reached a whopping 500 million downloads and still brings in $2 million every day. Even The Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara admitted that they were not expecting it to be such a hit. The game led to a considerable boost in Pokemon game and trading card sales.
