MacOS Sierra release date has been revealed during Apple's big reveal of the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and Apple Watch Series 2. While the company did not reveal the new Mac device, Apple officially announced that MacOS Sierra is slated for a Sept. 20 release date.

The new MacOS Sierra is suggested to be a free upgrade that will be available from the Mac App store. However, the catch is outdated machines are reportedly not going to be included in the list of devices that could get the upgrade. The list of Macs that could get the MacOS Sierra include MacBooks and iMacs that are produced at least in late 2009 and MacBook Air, Mac Pro, Mac Minis and MacBook Pro that are produced at least in 2010, Tech Radar reported.

Some features of the MacOS Sierra include a more manageable version of the iCloud Drive content in the documents folder or the desktop on the Mac. This would mean that users could access their files through their iOS devices or another Mac. The new MacOS is also suggested to integrate Siri which means that all of Siri's smart offerings will now be available to the Mac as well.

Another feature of the MacOS Sierra is the Universal Clipboard which is known to be one of the neatest features that allows users to copy and paste images, videos and text from iOS devices to the Mac and vice versa. An Auto Unlock functionality is also suggested to arrive to Mac which lets users unlock the Mac using an Apple Watch, 9to5 Mac reported.

MacOS Sierra also includes a Picture-In-Picture Mode which is suggested to allow users keep an eye on a certain app such as iTunes and Safari and stay focused on a task at hand in the main portion of their screen. Additionally, the software's name now aligns with the naming scheme of other Apple products such as tvOS, watchOS and iOS. Watch Apple's MacOS Sierra's best features here.
