Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 fall in mid-range budget smartphones category. Which one has better performance?

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 specs review: Design, hardware and software

Redmi Note 3 has a full metal body with 5.5 inch screen and fast, responsive fingerprint sensor to unlock phone. It feels premium and comfortable in hand, although technically it is slightly thicker than Galaxy J7. Redmi Note 3 runs android Lollipop and packs hexa-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 650. There are two storage variants, 2 GB RAM with 16 GB, 3 GB RAM with 32 GB RAM.

The display quality is sharp although it is not Super AMOLED. It has 403 ppi pixel density which has considerable amount of contrast increased when used under the sun light.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 specs review: Design, hardware and software

Galaxy J7 is a 5.5 inch phone with Super AMOLED display. It has crisp and excellent color production although the pixel density is low, 267 ppi. Basically, there is nothing new on the appearance of the revamped phone as Samsung is only upgrading what's under the hood, such as RAM, battery and Android OS.

Users can always rely on Samsung smartphones' camera quality. This one packs 16 MP and 5 MP shooters. The processing power is considered a beast, pairing octa core, Snapdragon 617 with 2 GB of RAM. Internal storage of 16 GB is expandable using dedicated MicroSD slot, GSM Arena wrote.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 lacks of storage option. Hence, compared to Redmi Note 3 with 3GB of RAM, Xiaomi's flagship has faster loading-time when switching between apps and better gaming experience, as well.

There is a slightly delay in Galaxy J7 when opening the same game as how the video below will show you. Overall, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 is quite nice but it is the design quality repeating itself.

The highest model for Redmi Note 3, 3GB variant, is sold at around $179. It is still considerably cheaper compared to Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 with its $238 pricetag.

Thus, if you are looking for a different type of elegant phone with quality performance, the Redmi Note 3 can be a good buy.
