Google Nexus 2016 devices rumored to be cancelled due to the poor performance of the older models of Nexus smartphones is not true. Both the Nexus Sailfish and Marlin, which are developed by HTC, were rumored to be unveiled in October, along with the new Android 7.1 Nougat operating system.

Although Google continues to improve their Android OS, the market sales of the Nexus devices are reportedly declining.

However, based on a tweet posted by Android Police editor David Ruddock, the Nexus phones of 2016 may  still be released in the market in either late September or early October. The tweet also seemed to suggest that with the likely launch, the shipping of LG V20 in the US may only begin after the Nexus release. Moreover, some reports also indicate that the devices are scheduled for release on Oct. 4, The Verge reported.

As for the Google Nexus 2016 specs, reports claim that the HTC Sailfish and Marlin phones are coming with 4GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 820 processor, and 32GB of internal storage. In addition, the 32GB model of Marlin is believed to cost $599 while the 32GB model of Sailfish will be offered at $449, Parent Herald reported.

Moreover, the two Nexus devices are expected to sport an 8 MP front camera and a 13 MP rear camera. Other reports also claim that the Marlin model will come with a Snapdragon 821 processor and not with a Snapdragon 820, which was earlier reported.

Also, the Sailfish, will have a 5-inch, 1080p screen, while Marlin will be having a 5.5-inch screen with a Quad HD display. Some speculations claim that the Marlin might come with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution.

Google Nexus 2016 Sailfish and Marlin models have yet to be confirmed by the HTC and Google and every information regarding the devices remains only a speculation for now. Watch HTC Nexus Marlin/Sailfish first 3D video rendering based on latest leaks.
