If you have been waiting with bated breath to get your hands on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, brace yourself as a slew of photos of an exploded Note 7 have surfaced online. If reports doing rounds are anything to go by, the phablet exploded while it was kept for charging.

The shocking revelation comes from a Korean woman who reported the incident on an online forum site. Apparently, she had kept the Galaxy Note 7 for charging overnight, but when she woke up in the morning to her horror, she found her phone badly damaged. Samsung has assured it will figure out the real cause of the explosion, according to reports on The Korea Herald.

If the Korean consumer's claim proved to be true, the incident could have a negative influence on the sales of Galaxy Note 7. Previous speculations suggest that the fire could have been caused due to overheating of Li-Ion battery. The user has supposedly used a microUSB to Type-C converter for charging the smartphone.

The much-lauded Galaxy Note 7 is quite popular in South Korea; In fact, the device's pre-orders surpassed 400,000 units. Citing this this excitement for the device among users, Samsung has apologized to avid Galaxy fans and customers on the delay of shipping pre-ordered units, The Investor reported. The South Korean tech firm has guaranteed that all the pre-ordered Note 7 smartphones will be delivered by the end of August, 2016.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has an edge over other smartphones in the Note series as it is the first handset to boast a dual-edge curved display.

Moreover, it features a mammoth 5.7-inch AMOLED display and support Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1400 pixels. The Note 7 is the first smartphone that features Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Under the hood, the Note 7 is powered by Exynos 8890 chipset and in some markets, the company is offering the Snapdragon 820 powered model. Nevertheless, both variants come with 4 GB of RAM, a native storage of 64 GB, but it doesn't run Google's latest OS, Android 7.0 Nougat, instead it comes preloaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

The Note 7 sports a 12 MP rear camera enabled with features such as LED flash and OIS. The front snapper, on the other hand, is 5 MP. It is the first phone from Samsung that sports an iris scanner and a USB Type-C reader. It packs a robust 3,500 mAh battery that supports Qi wireless charging and fast charging.
