Joe Henderson, executive producer for Season 2 of Fox's "Lucifer" just recently gave a statement regarding their newest cast member, "Spanglish" actress Aimee Garcia portraying the role of Ella Lopez, the new forensic scientist of the Los Angeles Police Department.

In an interview with Blastr, Henderson stated that the character of Ella Garcia was inspired by a guest character from a past episode of Lucifer. Father Frank, who was portrayed by actor Colman Domingo, was a priest and was able have a very intriguing conversation with Lucifer Morningstar, portrayed by actor Tom Ellis - Ella Lopez shares a similarity with Father Frank as she is also very religious and a a firm believer in God, with the characteristic of not judging people.

Henderson also added that Lopez provides an innocence that can be disarming and uncomfortable for Lucifer. Henderson was also happy that Garcia has great chemistry with all the other cast members. He also adds that Garcia just immediately clicks with her co-stars on and off screen.

Furthermore, Henderson is quite happy with the casting of "Battlestar Galactica" star, Tricia Helfer for season 2. He also states the he is a huge fan of her and her role in Battlestar Galactica.

The executive also added that ending season 1 with the word "mom," they already knew that the role will be next to impossible to fill, and that you would need an actress that is strong and humorous, and smart and frightening, and gentle and mean... and then they finally got Tricia Helfer, they were thrilled because she represents all of that.

Meanwhile, in a report by Design N Trend, Henderson confirmed that season 2 of Lucifer will still continue to do the same format that the second half of the first season. A case of the week was the format of season one where Lucifer and Detective Chloe Decker, who is portrayed by actress Lauren German had to solve. But Henderson also alludes to their plan to introduce new ideas and storyline in season 2 to keep things fresh for the fans.
FOX's Season 2 of "Lucifer" comes back to the small screen on Sept. 19.
