College sports scholarships benefit both the athlete and the school. The player's affiliation with the university will not only allow him or her to do what he or she loves while getting an education, it will also help the school with its brand.

Students who excel in athletics can get college sports scholarships. SayCampusLife.com shared four things that those who are aiming for this benefit should know.

1. Know how you can get yourself noticed.

You may be the best in your team but if you don't know how to get yourself out there, your team coach or manager will not be able to see your true capabilities. Work towards getting noticed by talking to your coach and joining other training sessions.

2. Know that college sports scholarships only cover a part of your tuition

There are times that a college sports scholarship program will not be able to cover all of your education expense. You can try to get another scholarship from a different organization.

3. Know how to use social media to its full advantage

Social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube are powerful tools that will get you noticed by a good coach. It is highly likely that you will get a college sports scholarship once your talents and skills are showcased.

4. Know that college sports scholarships are not guaranteed

Getting a scholarship may not be guaranteed to last for three years or throughout your whole education period. Some college sports scholarships are renewed after a time. Some are yearly while there are those that last as long as you're still in school.

U.S. News noted lesser-known sports that can get college students a scholarship. While basketball, football and baseball are popular, players of billiards, bowling and surfing can also get a scholarship as well as e-sports.

Boxers can apply for the Ira Mitzner Collegiate Boxing Scholarship which offers $10,000 for athletes who want to pursue an undergraduate degree. The Civilian Marksmanship Program and Academics Integrity Marksmanship Scholarship Program are created for students with good aim.
