Success does not happen overnight. More often than not, it comes from daily habits that one develops early on.

According to Entrepreneur, highly successful business people have strong personal habits that positively impact their businesses. These habits include healthy eating, working out, saving money and tithing.

On the other hand, there are bad habits that may be hindering your business' progress. The publication noted three bad habits that leaders need to overcome in order to become more successful.

1. Paying attention to stories rather than facts.

Sometimes, we create stories in our heads that are actually a far cry from the actual situation. Stories evoke emotions, which cause a reaction. These reactions are based on conclusions that are drawn from false inferences usually.

To be an effective and successful leader, you will need to break this habit. Separate the facts from stories and always make decisions based on concrete details.

2. Believing only on what you believe.

This may be one of the most difficult habits to break since most of our beliefs have been deeply ingrained on us by others as early as childhood. However, innovation is a requirement in building a business. This would mean that you would need to question every belief you have. Look for inspiration. Don't let your beliefs stand in the way of your creativity.

3. Ignoring criticism.

To be a successful entrepreneur, you would need a healthy ego and an objective view of self. However, don't fall into the trap of thinking that you're better than you are. Don't discount employee or customer feedback about your product or service. Instead, learn from it. That one bad review out of the many good ones may be the source of relevant information that can take your business to the next level. Look at all negative reviews as constructive criticism that can help your company. There's always room for improvement.
