Apple Inc. is going back to a highly regarded senior executive who helped bring to market many of the company's signature products to oversee its fledgling automobile project.

Bob Mansfield, the former Apple's Senior Vice President of Technologies, had stepped down from the role at the company a few years ago after the development of products such like the "MacBook Air," the "iMac" desktop computer, as well as the "iPad tablet," according to The Wall Street Journal.

The technology company took back Mr. Mansfield to run Apple's secret autonomous, electric-vehicle initiative - which the company called it "Project Titan."

Apple Inc. declined the request for a comment, the tech giant has been rather tight lipped about the details of "Project Titan," which a lot of people are all pretty sure it exists, based on the report of CNET.

But, the details about the effort, which includes the discovery of a secretive facility in Sunnyvale, California, believed to be the home base for "Project Titan." The tech giant was suspected to have covered behind a shell corporation named SixtyEight Research LLC, Apple Insider reported.

However, as the focus of automobile technology diverted from the internal combustion engine to machine vision, battery technology as well as software - it has offered an opportunity for companies like Apple, with an advantage from years of experience in building high-tech devices.

Tim Cook, Chief Executive Officer of Apple, has predicted that a massive change will happen in the industry as software and autonomous driving become more significant.

Anyway, the car project is one of Apple Inc.'s long-term collaborative enterprise that aimed at driving future growth. "Project Titan" could press the need as Apple as they suffered from a slowdown in sales for the "iPhone."

The reassignment of Mansfield brings a leader with a record of giving challenging technical products to market in an effort that has been tangled up in problems.
