There is no doubt that the reception of Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" was completely divided between critics' and audiences. But there are upsides that they can agree with - both the things they were most worried about turn out to be the best parts of the film.

Ben Affleck being cast as the Batman had a majority of the world raging back in 2013. But flashforward to what fans have experienced from him as "Batman in Dawn of Justice," and the reactions are polar opposites. Some fans say the movie became more Batman-centric than Superman because of how Affleck carried the role of the Dark Knight, according to The Wrap.

Another issue was the casting of Gal Gadot as the Amazonian Warrior Princess, Wonder Woman. At the time, audiences' exposure to Gadot's acting chops were her brief stints in a few of the "Fast and Furious" movie franchise, albeit she was in the good ones.

There was not a lot of confidence in her acting ability to take on the role of the Wonder Woman, but she proved naysayers wrong. Her portrayal of Diana Prince gave an air of mystique and grace. Her action scenes are some of the better ones in the movie, and that says a lot for a movie that a Batman and Superman battle should have been the centerpiece. Instead, audiences gravitated more towards her encounter with Doomsday.

When Warner Bros. and DC first announced that they will be making a stand-alone "Wonder Woman" film, fans felt a mix of curiosity and doubt, but after witnessing Gadot's performance in BvS, they seemed to be more excited for it. In a report by Screenrant, during the 2016 San Diego Comic Con, fans were given a treat - the unveiling of "Wonder Woman's" first trailer. Audiences were able to get a glimpse of what could be DC's most anticipated stand-alone film, aside from Ben Affleck's upcoming stand-alone Batman movie.

The trailer shows that the movie will be more like a period piece-meets-superhero movie. It shows the early life of Princess Diana, while she was living in the island of Themyscira and oblivious to the world of man. Captain Steve Trevor's plane crashes on the island, and was washed ashore. It's been shown that Diana saves him, and in turn, Trevor warns her of the plight of man which compels her to leave her island and be a hero. The trailer features fast-paced action cuts (the inclusion of her use of the iconic lasso brought fans happiness), and highlights her injection into human society. Unlike "Batman V Superman," smart humor can be felt from the trailer, as seems likely that DC is trying to move away from the stigma of introducing a much more darker and joyless universe.

"Wonder Woman" will be open in movie theaters on June 2, 2017.
