The Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA) has made known publicly that Elizabeth Diller will be the recipient of the non-profit organization's prestigious 2016 ACADIA Lifetime Achievement Award.

ACADIA's Lifetime Achievement Award is given to exceptional architects and researchers who over the course of their career have made sufficiently important to be worthy of attention and innovative contributions to the areas of architecture and computational design.

Diller was officially recognized for her work being the Professor of Architecture at Princeton University and the Principal-in-Charge of The Shed (a center for artistic invention at the Hudson Yards - New York), according to Architects Newspaper.

Diller will receive the ACADIA's Lifetime Achievement Award at the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, during the 2016 Posthuman Frontiers: Data, Designers, and Cognitive Machines, on October 27-29.

The Professor of Architecture at Princeton University will also deliver a keynote lecture during the event at the University of Michigan's Power Center for the Performing Arts - which is slated on Friday, October 28.

Jason Kelly Johnson, ACADIA President, stated that Diller and her studio have been at the forefront of exploring the material, generative possibilities and spatial of new media in architecture.

However, Diller is a founding partner of an interdisciplinary design studio that works at the intersection of the performing arts, architecture and the visual arts - which is called Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R).

With the collaboration of Ricardo Scofidio, Diller was the first in the field of architecture to receive MacArthur Foundation's genius award. The award burst that their work took a look at how space functions in the world's culture and explains that the architecture (when understood as the physical manifestation of social relationships) is everywhere.

In addition, J. Meejin Yoon, the Head of the Department of Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), is set to be awarded with Teaching Award of Excellence in the 2016 ACADIA International Conference, MIT News reported.
