If recently-surfaced rumors are anything to go by, Google's next set of HTC-made smartphones dubbed, "Sailfish" and "Marlin" could very well look exactly the same in several aspects.

The only striking difference, rumors suggest, would be that one of the two smartphones will be slightly larger, while the other one will be a standard-sized phone.

On Tuesday, July 5, a new image of what looks like the next Google Nexus phone surfaced online via Android Police; hinting the search engine giant has opted for a comparatively cleaner design language for 2016.

The tech publication cites a source close the matter and clarifies that the leaked image is not an actual press render, but their own creation of what the looming Nexus phones would look like based on the evidence from their reliable source.

Taking into consideration that the purported handset is made by HTC, there are chances that the site could just be right.

The smartphone sports a plain front and back. Apparently, the back seems to have a mostly-metal panel that makes it look like a combination of an HTC 10 and HTC Desire device, further augmented with a big glass or plastic panel to boot, SlashGear reported.

The device reportedly looks exactly like what rumors claim to understand the Nexus duo would look like.

The aforementioned set of specs for HTC-made "Sailfish" and "Marlin" are based on rumors or insider tips and speculations. As it is with the leaked image of the phone, final details could be quite different from what speculations have hinted so far.

Until Google confirms or denies them, those waiting with bated breath for the next Nexus smartphone are recommended to take these reports and speculations with a grain of salt.
