Galaxy S7 edge is coming in time for the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Samsung is known for its ability to launch different variants of its flagship smartphones relating to an event, Samsung's latest entry also confirm several specs and features.

On August 2, Samsung is reportedly planning to launch its next-generation Galaxy Note phablet at an event. Galaxy Note 7 was rumored to include a 5.8-inch dual-edge curved display, 6 GB of RAM and an advanced iris scanner among its top features. Other news reports suggest that the unit will be deriving Galaxy S7 and S7 edge features like the waterproof and dustproof case and the microSD expansion slot. Galaxy Note 7 will be reproduced into 5 million devices for its launch, TechTimes wrote.

In the past, Samsung has sponsored Olympic Games and celebrated the 2012 London Summer Olympics thru Galaxy S3 Olympic Edition which was followed up by Galaxy Note 3 2014 Winter Olympics edition in Sochi, Russia.

The leak came from Evan Blass (@evleaks) who posted images of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Edition on Twitter. Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition is expected to feature exactly the same hardware of the current Galaxy S7 edge but will use the Olympic logo colors to give accent on the front, sides and back. Plus, the official logo will be emblazoned on the rear.

Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Edition would not be Samsung's first special edition. Last May, the company joined Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and rolled out Galaxy S7 edge Injustice Edition. However, the company has not issued an official confirmation yet about the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Edition, TechTimes added.

Considering that the games are just weeks away, the tech giant must be hiding something under its sleeves. Whether Samsung plans on marketing the smartphone to the general public or giving away the device to athletes taking part in the festivities remains unclear.

However, if Samsung issues an update regarding Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Edition, University Herald will keep you posted. For now, what can you say about the latest special edition? Share your thoughts at the comment box below.
