A research about mental health on college campuses shows that 80% of students feel overwhelmed by their responsibilities. 

National Alliance on Mental Illness conducted a research and they found out that 80% of the students feel overwhelmed by their responsibilities, and its 40% of them do not seek help. 50% of them are anxious and one in four students have a diagnosable illness.

The most mental health challenges that most college students are facing are depression, anxiety, suicide, and eating disorders, Best College reported. 

Association for University and College Counseling Center Directors described depression among students is like wearing many masks or faces. According to the survey they conducted, in 2013, 36.4% of college students experienced some level of depression.

This is the number one reason why many students drop out of school and this problem left untreated, it may lead to other symptoms or worse, could lead to suicide. This could be a common problem but serious illness that leaves student feeling helpless. 

The numbers of students who seek help for serious mental health issues at campus has been increasing since the mid-1990s, American Psychological Association reported. The symptoms include, change in appetite or weight, slowed thinking and even speech, lost of interest to any activities, feeling of sadness, fatigue, feeling guilt, indecisiveness, poor concentration, and even thought of dying or suiciding. 

Anxiety is also a mental health challenge among students and even to adults. Experiencing this emotion for some time does not mean you have a disorder, and need to undergo a treatment. Anxiety disorder occurs when this emotion affects your daily life. Symptoms include irritability, fearfulness, headaches, frequent upset stomach or diarrhea, irregular heartbeat, muscle pain and tension, problems in concentrating, and sweating and dizziness.

Suicide could be a worse thing to come in the mind of any person as he wishing to harm himself, or end his life. According to a statistic, 10% of the college students has thought about ending their lives. 

Common signs of a suicidal person are, depression, negative mood or optimistic about every thing, hopeless, discussed about suicide, abrupt change in personality, drop in academic  performance, avoiding friends and social activities, and extreme physical and emotional pain. 

Some students have eating disorders. According to a study, people aged 12 to 25 represent the 95% of those people with eating disorders.  Anorexia is the third chronic illness among adolescents, 91% of college women attempt to control their weight through dieting.

Common symptoms are excessive exercise, dehydration, out of control eating, fear of eating, make excuses for eating habits, and irregular habits.
