A highway accident in Minnesota has taken life of St. Cloud State University president, Earl H. Potter III. The announcement was made by University's chancellor, Steven Rosenstone on Tuesday, stating that Potter died in car crash after his Toyota 4 Runner rollover and hit guard rail.

On 5.30 pm, the 69-year-old was heading east on Interstate 694 in Brooklyn Center. Potter was on the way for a board meeting in Twin Cities.

A huge loss to Minnesota higher education institution

Rosenstone continued his grief statement by describing Potter as 'insightful leader' and 'thoughtful' for his students, NY Daily News reported. The tragic highway accident news stated by the local authorities confirmed that Potter's car flipped multiple times before hitting cable barriers.

The SCSU President had led the school since 2017. He was supposed to serve as university's president until June 2019, SC Times reported. Potter once praised the institution for having great team that could change lives of the students.

St. Cloud State University social media platforms have also stated the tragic highway accident that quickly gained condolences from the students and faculty members.

The notice of his death is posted in many platforms, including St. Cloud State University Volleyball's official Facebook that described the tragic event as 'a very sad day on campus' as it updated followers with the news report.

Serving 9 years in the campus, Potter was a caring president, based on a testimonial from student leader in the campus, Mikaela Johnson. Johnson, who was in tears recalling her encounters with Potter, said that the president just wanted to make great experience for all students.

The state university currently has 15,000 students and according to Rosenstone statement, Provost Ashish Vaidya will be taking Potter's place as acting president in the mean time.

The highway accident in Minnesota that killed St. Cloud State University president is currently under investigation.
