College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American status were given to three Utah athletes on June 12.

An official press release from the University of Utah named and described the three Utes as well as the qualities that made them qualify for the program. All three of them have one common factor; they all displayed commitment both to their sport and their academic studies.

Kailah Delaney, a senior gymnast with a bachelor's degree in health, society and policy and with 3.877 cumulative GPA received the second team honors. She is also the first athlete in Utah to be recognized as four-time All-Pac-12 vaulter and the Regional vault champion at the 2016 NCAA.

Endre Bjertness, a sophomore skier who garnered a 3.77 cumulative GPA in civil engineering also achieved the second team honors.  He finished at GS sixth place at the 2015 NCAA Championships and is the giant slalom champion at the 2016 NCAA.

Breanna Hughes, a senior gymnast with 3.965 cumulative GPA received the first team honors. Having completed the bachelor's degree in human development and family studies, she plans to bring her academic status to the next level as she pursues to complete her second bachelor's degree in health, society and policy in 2017. The Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year in gymnastics, Hughes is also the Pac-12 all-around and vault champion for 2016, as reported by SB Nation.

The Academic All-America is an annual program organized by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) with the aide of some partners. It aims to recognize and key reserves or varsity starters commitment to both their athletic and academic institutions.

It is open for student-athlete nominated by their sports information director. They must have received a sophomore academic and athletic standing and must be able to maintain a 3.30 minimum cumulative grade average at 4.00 scale, according to ND Sports.
