Lenovo is carrying out a major overhaul of Motorola and it includes dropping the "Motorola" label and replacing it with "Lenovo Moto," writing off the Moto X flagship and renaming it to Moto Z and a lot more.

The new Moto will sport a modular design, which along with other things will facilitate easy customization of the back. A slew of images showing the back covers for the upcoming Moto Z flagship line surfaced online. If the leaked photographs are anything to go by, the new Moto Z will provide some really good choices in terms of the smartphone's backs - including two wooden options, nylon variant (similar to Moto X Force) and two leather options, GSM Arena reported.

The back covers reportedly covers up the connection pins for the MotoMods placed at the back, and feature an oblique ring opening for the top camera.

Rumor mills are also churning speculations that the company will provide more details about the Google Project Tango-powered smartphone that it announced it will release. According to renowned tipster Evan Blass the phablet will be dubbed as Phab2 Pro. Blass also tipped that the smartphone will boast a mammoth 6.4-inch screen. No further details are currently available.

The new Moto Z flagship is slated to make an appearance during the Tech World event. Geared with MotoMods backplates that adds a slew of additional utility, the new flagship will retain the popular customization feature identical to the Moto X series,

Initially speculations hinted not one, but two variants - the Moto Z and Moto Z Play.

Moto Z: The Moto Z will reportedly feature 5.5-inch QHD display, and will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor, paired with 3 or 4 GB of RAM. The purported Moto Z smartphone will boast a 16 MP rear camera, and in terms of storage capacity, it will come with 32 GB of inbuilt storage and will pack a 2600mAh battery, NDTV Gadgets reported.

Moto Z Play: The Moto Z Play on the other hand is reported to feature a 5.5-inch full HD display, and will be powered by a Snapdragon 625 SoC, with 2 GB of RAM, a 13 MP rear camera. As far as storage capacity is concerned, the Moto Z Play will come with a 16 or 32 GB storage variants. It will pack a 3500mAh battery.
