Trump University will go on trial, according to a New York judge. Donald Trump and his real estate school were slapped with a $40 million civil suit for fraud and false advertising.

The lawsuit was filed by Democratic Attorney General Eric Schneiderman in 2014. According to The Wall Street Journal, the case against the Republical Presidential candidate and Trump University is allegedly for thousands of enrolled students who were deceived. Trump University's programs reportedly offer expensive "live seminars and mentorship programs" without proper licensing.

USA Today shares that Trump University was ordered a cease and desist by a New York court in 2010. It was then renamed to Trump Entrepreneur Initiative and then ceased operations during that year. Trump also denied the allegations saying that students love the program and that it has been given an A rating by the Better Business Bureau.

Trump's camp launched the website 98PercentApproval.com to show that they had high praises from students. However, it was discovered that Trump University had a rating of D- from complainants who are mostly students.

Schneiderman announced that he wants the trial to progress faster because Trump's ex-students have been waiting for years for "relief from fraud." NBC News reports that Donald Trump and Trump University president Michael Sexton will be called to the trial stand as witnesses.

There is no set date for the trial yet but CNN shares that it could take place in fall of this year. According to the outlet, Trump and his team were happy about the court's decision saying they were pleased that the court did not go through with Schneiderman's plan to avoid trial. Meanwhile, Schneiderman's camp is preparing to present evidence of Trump University's fraud during the trial.
