Pop icon Prince has been cremated. His family and close friends held a private memorial service to celebrate him. Friends say that they saw the "Purple Rain" singer live a clean life and they are confused by reports of possible drug overdose death. An autopsy has been performed but toxicology tests will need weeks to complete so official cause of death is still unknown.

Prince's publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, said in a statement that confirmed that the music icon has been cremated. The location of where the private service was held was not disclosed. Fox News reports that people close to Prince including bassist Larry Graham, percussionist Sheila E. were seen entering the singer's estate in Paisley Park in Minneapolis. Additionally, Prince's sister and brother-in-law, Tyka Nelson and Maurice Philips were also spotted in the premises. A large number of Prince's fans were outside the estate. A fence was decorated with tributes including flowers, balloons and signs for the singer.

The Guardian shares that the location of where the cremated remains of Prince will remain a secret. A statement by Noel-Schure adds that the family and close friends of Prince are asking for prayers and blessings during the difficult time. Details of a celebration in honor of Prince will be released soon.

Several days before his death, Prince was rushed to the hospital after his plane made an emergency landing. According to Daily Mail, he was being treated for flu-like symptoms. Reports say that he is being treated for prescription painkiller Percocet overdose.

The report by the Guardian said that people close to Prince said that the singer lived a healthy life and did not do drugs and alcohol. However, Prince's drug dealer allegedly told Mirror that the pop icon was addicted to opiates for more than 25 years. Prince reportedly needed strong painkillers to perform.
