Jimmy Vesey is this year's recipient of the prestigious Hobey Baker Memorial Award.The event took place in Tampa Theatre, Florida and viewed live via NHL Network. Vesey is the fourth charm from Harvard to receive the trophy after Mark Fusco, Scott Fusco and Lane MacDonlad.

As the top player in 2016 college hockey, Vesey was nominated alongside Kyle Connor from Michigan and Thatcher Demko from Boston College. In his acceptance speech, the student-athlete mentioned both players whom he believed, also deserved the award.

According to NCAA, Vesey has achieved astounding records after scoring 80 goals throughout his career. The top scorer won after majority of the selection committees and fans' online ballot chose him for this year's Hobey Baker Memorial Award. The North Reading native was said to have completed the level of hockey athlete in every element, making him an impact player.

Vesey told the Associated Press that he's excited for his graduation ceremony as it's a moment to end what he's started at Harvard. He is preparing himself for intensive training and can't wait to "hit the ground running."

Hobey Baker was a legendary hockey athlete from Princeton. He was named as the greatest amateur athlete in America in 1914. His skills include the strength and sportsmanship that was balanced with his achievements. After completing military service, Baker died due to a plane accident after testing an aircraft during World War I.

Each year, coaches from participating schools select players by their excellent performance in the team. These athletes have to exemplify Hobey Baker's characters of high integrity, coachability, sportsmanship and the spirit to inspire the community.
