Harvard has topped the list of Best American Business Schools by US News. Harvard Business School offers a full-time MBA program, doctoral programs, HBX and many executive education programs.

In fall 2010, the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, and the Tata Education and Development Trust, gifted $50 million - the school's first international donation. The donation supports the construction of Tata Hall that will house HBS's mid-career Executive Education program.

"The Harvard Business School is the preeminent place to be exposed to the world's best thinking on management and leadership, and we are pleased that this gift will support the School's educational mission to mold the next generation of global business leaders," said Ratan Tata, the Chairman of Tata Sons, in a statement.

Stanford Graduate School of Business follows Harvard in the second place. It is considered to be the most selective school in the U.S., with a 6.8 percent acceptance rate in 2013, Business Insider. Some of the School's successful graduates include Joe Coulombe, Charles Schwab, Phil Knight, Nolan Bushnell and John Browne among others.

Coulombe, a 1954 MBA graduate, established the grocery chain Trader Joe's in 1967.

"I do as much shopping as possible at Trader Joe's because of the prices," said actress Elizabeth Payne. When you think Trader Joe's you think of innovative products," Sandy Skrovan, a researcher at the consulting firm TNS Retail Forward, said. "That's what drives their model-return patronage and quality products at a fair price," Business Week reports.

In the third place is the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. Roughly 650 students in the class of 2014 have landed in heft job offers, making Whartonites among the most richly paid business undergraduates in the world, Fortune reports.

In a separate ranking of best undergraduate programs by US News, the school secured the top spot. "Wharton's clear win is not surprising. The school boasts one of the most respected, and selective, undergraduate business programs in the country," Poets and Quants said in a statement.
