Online retailers have recently given Apple's MacBook Air and iPad Air 2 a price markdown. This move has renewed the anticipations of tech fans that the MacBook Air 2017 will be released soon.

Best Buy led the pack in reducing the price of the MacBook Air and iPad Air 2, as the online retailer is offering a large markdown for the 13-inch MacBook Air variant. The 13-inch MacBook Air now has a $799 price tag, which is $200 less compared to its original price of $999. Best Buy claimed that the ones on markdown are brand-new units.

Several tech enthusiasts are hungry for MacBook Air's upgraded version. While a 2016 MacBook Air edition was released, many deemed the device as a disappointing update for the reason that there were barely any changes made on the laptop. Nonetheless, the Cupertino based tech company has made it a tradition to unleash a MacBook Air within the first half of the year, so the fact that the tech giant has remained mum about whether or not it will be rolling out a new MacBook Air model in 2017 has been considered a cause of alarm for tech fans and experts.

Nevertheless, reports are mounting up on the internet claiming that Apple had stopped ordering items from its suppliers for the MacBook Air, which could indicate that the tech titan may indeed discontinue the model. What Apple is banking on is its new iPad Pro lineup, which is a hybrid tablet that can also be used as a laptop, Autoomobile reported.

In spite of that, the MacBook Air has been the tech titan's most affordable and most portable laptop for years. Prior to the release of the 12-inch MacBook model in 2015, the MacBook Air was the king of portability among the tech company's productivity machines. The MacBook Air was also the lowest-priced laptop in the lineup, with the 11-inch MacBook Air model being extremely popular among students, Mac World reported.
