iMac 2017 to make Surface Studio Look Ancient? Powerful Intel Chip and 5K Display to be Expected

By

iMac hasn't been updated since two years ago. Apple seems to keep everything subtle without spilling too many beans. However, we've gathered evidences that suggest the iMac 2017 will be impressive.

Innovative design

The iMac 2017 is expected to have an innovative design. As a comparison, the Surface Studio has an adjustable hinge and comfy stylus but the ports are located on the back. It may be minor but if Apple will introduce the new iMac this year, it should be better and more practical for users.

VR-Ready

Microsoft equips the Surface Studio with affordable Creators Update on Windows 10. But this year, Apple is rumored to develop virtual reality technology. The Cupertino company has reportedly recruited VR experts to build the prototype device, MacWorld learned.

5K display

The iMac 2017 is reportedly getting an upgrade in a few components including the support for USB C port. Apple's upcoming desktop is said to sport Retina Display with possibly OLED Touch Bar like the one in MacBook Pro 2016 series.

Intel processor

Recent reports claimed that Apple could be using the two chips to provide more options for middle and high-end users. But the iMac 2017 is highly likely to contain Intel Kaby Lake processor instead of the rumored AMD Ryzen. Previously, Motley Fool published a blog post with detailed analysis that suggests Apple will still use Intel chip for its iMac and Mac lineups.

Fusion Drive

Apple is expected to equip the all iMac 2017 series with Fusion Drive instead of selling it separately like the current models.

The current Microsoft Studio is an absolute stunner but when as far as the price is concerned, it is way more expensive than Apple's desktop PC. Hence, the iMac 2017 could steal the limelight as a much affordable machine for professional artists.

Tim Cook has stated that the current iMac is the best desktop and it will be interesting to find out if the iMac 2017 will live up to expectation, or even exceeds it.
