"Samurai Jack" Season 5 is finally having its premiere after years of waiting for it. The fifth and final season details have been revealed. Here is what we know so far.

Show Creator Reveals Reason Why 'Samurai Jack' Movie Isn't Happening

It has been more than a decade ago when "Samurai Jack" had its premiere on Cartoon Network. The runs for four season from 2001 to 2004. Since then, after having successful episodes and an Emmy recognition, the creator reportedly taking the show to the next level -- a movie project.

However, time has passed and the creator himself, Genndy Tartakovsky, who also helmed "Hotel Transylvania" film franchise, decided to finish the story in miniseries.

In his interview with Comic Book, Tartakovsky tries to end his masterpiece as a movie but then he realizes that it was indeed a very big challenge. Now, in his free time, he decided it'd be better to finish "Samurai Jack" in the small screen as a television series.

"We've been trying to get the feature off the ground but maybe that's just fate's way of saying this is a television thing and maybe it should be a mini-series or something like that," says Tartakovsky

'Samurai Jack' Season 5 - What We Know So Far

As of writing, according to Slash Film, Tartakovsky reveals that "Samurai Jack" season 4 finale and the upcoming final episodes of the series will have little connection. As for its theme, reports claim that it will be much darker and bloodier this time. However, it will still be kid-friendly.

Here is the official synopsis of "Samurai Jack" Season 5: "It's been 50 years since we saw Samurai Jack and time has not been kind to him. Aku has destroyed every time portal and Jack has stopped aging, a side effect of time travel. It seems he is cursed to just roam the land for all eternity."

"Samurai Jack" will no longer be part of Cartoon Network, instead, the fifth and final season will premiere on Adult Swim. The series is slated for a March 11 release at 11 p.m. ET.
