The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime is a mid-range phone that does not look like one. Its physical aesthetics can be confused for a flagship device that features a curved glass front and slightly textured metal back.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 looks like a Galaxy S7 doppelganger, only to be proven otherwise upon closer inspection. Exploding battery (Galaxy Note 7) aside, Samsung is certainly one smartphone brand with the capability to best even Apple.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime carries the classic Samsung look with a rounded edge with a physical Home button and with Back and Recent Buttons on its side. The unit sports a metal back panel with adjusted sides for holding comfort. The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime's features a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass in a 5.5-inch configuration, Neurogadget reported.

It boasts of a brushed metal finish with no camera protrusion ensuring sleek and ultra-slim design. The enlarged screen provides for optimal viewing and single-handed use.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime features an enhanced RAM and ROM support for UI transitions and more efficient multitasking. It features the Exynos 7870 Octa 1.6GHz octa-core CPU supported by 3GB of RAM and a choice of 16GB or 32GB internal memory, expandable up to 256GB via SD Card. GPU onboard is the Mali-T830MP2.

The J7 Prime has a mini-USB port and a 3.5mm earphone jack. It also comes with dual-SIM functionality. Its rear camera is 13MP that comes with autofocus and LED flash. The front selfie camera is 8MP.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime also features NFC, fingerprint, proximity, and accelerometer sensors. The device comes is powered by a non-removable 3300mAh battery and runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, out of the box, according to GSMArena. Reports say that it will get an update to Android 7 Nougat soon.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime is a midrange device that almost attains flagship performance. It is surely a step up from the barrage of cheaper midrange phones in its class. Anyone looking for a replacement or a standby "almost-flagship" device cannot go wrong with the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime.
