Nintendo Switch to Welcome 'Shovel Knight'; Price Goes Up

By

"Shovel Knight" fans have something to celebrate as developer Yacht Club Games recently announced that the game will soon be released on Nintendo Switch with a heap of new content. The game will also have a new name, a new platform, and a higher price tag.

Nintendo Switch: Console Format

The game will now be called "Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove," Engadget reported. Game developers Yacht Club Games announced through a blog that the game will be available for the Nintendo Switch.

The game now has new campaigns and a two-player co-op gameplay. With the new game, players can now start the campaigns without having to beat the first game to unlock expansions.

As the main package is called "Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove," its original campaign will also get its own subtitle and will now be called "Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope" and the other campaign is called "Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows." Meanwhile, its upcoming prequel expansion, which will also be released in Nintendo Switch is called "Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment."

Higher Price

Treasure Trove, which includes all the campaigns as a package, will be sold at a higher price, Game Spot reported. There are no official announcements yet on the exact price of the package. But fans will soon find out as the change is expected to roll out this spring.

Current owners of "Shovel Knight" will still get the upcoming content for free, as what Yacht Club promised. Those who plan to purchase the game can buy them cheaper by buying them individually as each campaign will be sold as a standalone experience soon. This includes the King Knight and Battle Mode stories, which will be featured this year.

"Shovel Knight" was launched back in 2014 and received a huge amount of support. With the funding it got, the developer's original Kickstarter campaign promised to offer greater features like playable version of King Knight, Specter Knight, and Plague Knight. Now, three years after the launch, the developers are also hinting a new game outside of "Shovel Knight."
