'Overwatch' Update: Discovered Data Files Hint New Overwatch Event And New Arena Mode

By

The news about an "Overwatch" Christmas-themed event no longer comes as a surprise to fans after Blizzard has previously celebrated the Summer Games and Halloween with some makeover. But recent discoveries in "Overwatch's" game code have created tons of buzz in the gaming world.

According to a GameSpot report earlier, Data miners have discovered hidden files within the game's content. The hidden files, which said to include some sounds clips, have been posted on Reddit for "Overwatch" fans to check out and verify. The newly discovered sound files are believed to be an indication that a so-called Christmas-themed Overwatch event is coming to the game next month.

According to NeoGAF user Nirolak, the sound clips could refer to an upcoming Christmas-themed event for Overwatch. He also added that Overwatch players might be introduced to items specifically designed for the Christmas season.

The Overwatch Christmas theme music wasn't the only sound file found in the hidden files. A few voice lines for hero interactions were also found inside hidden, many involving the major character Sombra.

Aside from the upcoming Christmas-themed event, a new mode is also rumored to come on its way. This is said to be the new Arena mode, as some refer to the newly discovered sound files as some sort of arena's loading music.

In other gaming news, Blizzard is now offering discounts on some of its games through its online shop during Black Friday week. These include games like Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm , and StarCraft 2.

The Overwatch: Origins Edition PC version has been discounted 40 percent to $34.99. It's now the same price as the console versions of the game, which sold at PlayStation Store and Microsoft Xbox Games Store.

It feels like things are getting more interesting in Overwatch. Developer Blizzard Entertainment certainly has lots to offer for the game. It's also reported that Blizzard is set to introduce a brand new Overwatch feature, but this one is intended for single player only. The feature is said to introduce the ability to group up with random players after a game has been completed.
