Several incidence of battery issues on Nexus 6P that runs Android 7.0 Nougat have been reported globally through the XDA-Developers site. Other users have been alarmed on the reported cases, thus, it is speculated by some that this issue can be fix through rolling out the Android 7.1 Nougat update, which is coming soon.

Nexus 6P Battery Issues

Strange battery problems have been reported by some Google Nexus 6P owners when their respective devices have stopped working and can only be back into life once plugged into a power source. A certain Nexus 6P owner has posted a video on YouTube, showing his Nexus 6P running Android 7.0 Nougat that completely blacks out but comes back to life when he plugged the charger cable and proceed to restarting it, Android Authority reported.

For this reason, there are two recommended steps to fix the battery issues on Nexus 6P. The most common one is downgrading back to Android 6.0 Marshmallow that is likely to fix the issue and the other one is upgrading to Android 7.1 Nougat that brings lot of enhancements to the hardware and software of Nexus 6P, specifically.

Google and Huawei have remained tight-lipped about the issue; however, it is possible that the issues have reached to their end. Meanwhile, while waiting for the official announcements from the two tech giants, Nexus 6P owners have found temporary solution to the problem through resetting the device.

Android 7.1 Nougat to Nexus 6P

So far, there are only three devices that are eligible to get the Android 7.1 Nougat and they are all Google-made: Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Pixel C. According to Express, the developer preview of the latest android OS can now be downloaded to fix potential bugs on the three mentioned devices; whereas, other devices are likely to get the update in November for the public release.
